We’ve all heard it a million times — the holidays look a whole lot different in 2020 than they have in the past. Smaller groups and simpler meals will be the norm for many families this Christmas. Are you trying to think of a clever and fun idea that still feels festive? The North Beach Fish Camp crew has a few ideas for you.
Take it Easy with a Morning Cruise
So many of us stress out when the holidays arrive. Instead of becoming frantic over an elaborate dinner, try to only plan activities that spark job. If your family loves boating like ours, start your morning on the water. Bundle up with blankets and hot cocoa (spike it with Bailey’s if you’re feeling festive) and take a slow ride down the Intracoastal.
Encourage Competition with Beach or Yard Games
This is such a fun way to bring the family together and let loose for a bit. Corn hole, beach volleyball and flip cup are a few favorites for families of all ages. Hey, flip cup can even be kiddo-friendly if the cups are filled with apple cider! Break up into teams and play tournament-style for all-day fun.
Head to Your Local Hibachi Spot for a No-Pressure Dinner
So many families follow this traditional year after year. While most restaurants are closed on Christmas day, many Asian restaurants and fun hibachi places are open and bustling. This is a great idea for those families who plan an elaborate dinner or Christmas Eve and just don’t want to do two fancy dinners in a row.
Deliver Donuts to Your Local Fire Station or Police Precinct
The valuable men and women who serve the 904 don’t get a day off work like the rest of us. Gather the little ones, head to Krispy Kreme and make some much appreciated deliveries to those protecting us on Christmas. This is a fun tradition that people all over the country enjoy every year.
Come Visit Us at North Beach Between Christmas and New Years
While we spend time with our loved ones on December 25, we’re back at it the next day! Pop in for lunch or an evening cocktail to wind down from the holiday excitement. There’s just nothing better than listening to the waves crash, sipping a seasonal cocktail and enjoying good conversation with the ones you love.
